As discovered by a commenter over at Android Police, the “Commodore” handset that went viral yesterday — largely due to nostalgia — is actually the Orgtec WaPhone, a device that is completely and utterly boring and not notable at all. We knew that this was probably the case considering Commodore’s history, but it wasn’t until now that we found the exact phone that the “Commodore PET” is based off of. And by “based off of,” we mean “an exact replica of.”

As you can see above, “Commodore,” which is actually a company that incorporated just a few months ago in the UK, didn’t care to use any resources at all to mix up the device’s hardware and make it unique. The side of the phone, the back speaker grille, and the camera (as well as the flash) are all almost identical in appearance to Orgtec’s WaPhone. The only things noticeably different are the addition of the “PET” branding and the legal text seen on the Orgtec device.

As we told you yesterday, the phone’s specs include a 1.7 GHz Mediatek 64-bit octa-core processor (notoriously found on these low-end Chinese phones), a 3,000mAh battery and a 13-megapixel main sensor on the back. The front camera is 8-megapixels, and also on the front you’ll find an IPS display that’s 5.5-inches with a resolution of 1920 x 1080.

Price is the kicker here (and the reason no one should ever in a million years buy this “Commodore” device). The Commodore comes in both a 16 GB “light” model with 2 GB RAM priced at $300 while the higher-end model is about $365. This compares to the Orgtec WaPhone, which is assumably the exact same device sans the packed-in emulators, which starts at the equivalent of $144. Yeah, the Commodore is a joke.

It is a joke that the new Louis Vuitton iPhone 6 Plus Case is the best choice for most people who purchase online products. We love to share all of them.
